NALIP Discount for WESTDOC 2010
No single LA based event has focused exclusively on the non-fiction and reality community. WESTDOC brings together the top producers, directors, executives, agents and distributors in the non-fiction film and reality television industry. Interact with the people who can greenlight your show or give you insight into launching your career in this ever-expanding corner of the entertainment business.
Award winning documentary filmmaker Chuck Braverman and Non-fiction distributor Richard Propper kept meeting up at documentary conferences on the East Coast for years. Back in L.A., Chuck kept asking Richard (President of Intl. Documentary Association at the time), why there weren't any good conferences on West Coast for this segment of the industry. A good question. In 2009 they launched the first WESTDOC with over 30 panels and more than 100 speakers. Keynote speakers included RJ Cutler and Thom Beers.
"When we decided to produce the WESTDOC Conference, we wanted to organize panels with subjects that were relevant, informative, and even a little fun. We wanted to get the broadcasters talking in both large and small rooms, a little more relaxed than at other conferences, and a lot more accessible. We wanted to have a live pitching session that was filled with good pitches and an energetic atmosphere. We did all of that and more."
WESTDOC is ONE comprehensive event for THREE days of panels, seminars, pitching, and networking events. WESTDOC features two professional interest areas -- The Documentary Village and The Reality Village - with attendees able to select from both arenas at any time. More than 30 panels dedicated to the creation, development, and distribution of content. In addition; two on-going break-out smaller sessions: THE SIT-DOWN. Broadcaster overviews from networks outlining their needs today and tomorrow. FACE TIME. One-on-one meetings with the network executives you want to pitch to.
PITCHFEST
Got an idea? Can you pitch a room full of Broadcast Executives in front of a live audience? Check out PitchFest. If you've attended TDF or IDFA's Pitching Forum, you know how exciting the live audience format is. Pitches include a short work in progress video and verbal presentation. PitchFest categories are Documentary and Reality, one-offs and series. Ask anyone who attended last year - PitchFest was the highlight of WESTDOC. Submissions for PitchFest are being accepted through July 15th.
We are extending to the NALIP membership at a discounted rate of 10% off the listed registration price. Early birds rates will go up after May 31st.
